Scientific Navigation is committed to maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the scholarly record. Once an article has been published, it is considered part of the permanent record and will not be silently altered or removed. Any significant change is made transparently through a formal, linked notice, in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Corrections
Where an error is identified that affects the accuracy or interpretation of a published article but does not invalidate its main findings or conclusions, a Correction (Erratum or Corrigendum) is published. The correction receives its own DOI and is linked to the original article.
Retractions
An article may be retracted where there is clear evidence that its findings are unreliable, where it constitutes redundant publication or plagiarism, where there are unresolved authorship or contributorship problems, or where it involves other serious breaches of publication ethics. Retractions may be initiated by the authors, the Editorial Office, or both. A Retraction Notice is published with its own DOI, stating who is retracting the article and why. The original article remains available on the journal website, clearly marked as "RETRACTED".
Expressions of Concern
Where concerns about an article are serious but not yet resolved, the Editorial Office may publish an Expression of Concern while the matter is investigated.
Removal of Content
In rare cases, such as legal requirements or serious risk to health or privacy, content may need to be removed. In such cases the article metadata and a notice explaining the reason for removal will remain available.
Crossmark
Scientific Navigation uses the Crossref Crossmark service. Readers can use the Crossmark status of an article to check whether it has been corrected, retracted or otherwise updated.
