Conflict of Interest Policy
The Journal of Intelligent Systems and Applied Sciences (JISAS) is committed to ensuring transparency, integrity, and objectivity in scholarly publishing. This policy outlines the requirements for declaring and managing potential conflicts of interest for authors, reviewers, and editors.
1. Definition of Conflict of Interest
A conflict of interest exists when professional judgment concerning a primary interest (such as the validity of research) may be influenced by a secondary interest. Conflicts may be financial, professional, institutional, or personal in nature.
2. Author Responsibilities
All authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could be perceived to influence the research or its interpretation, including but not limited to:
-
Financial relationships (e.g., funding, employment, consultancies, equity interests)
-
Institutional affiliations or collaborations
-
Personal or professional relationships relevant to the work
If no conflicts exist, authors should explicitly state that no conflict of interest is declared.
Conflict of interest disclosures should be included in a dedicated Conflict of Interest Statement within the manuscript.
3. Reviewer Responsibilities
Reviewers are required to:
-
Declare any potential conflicts of interest before agreeing to review a manuscript
-
Decline the review if a conflict could compromise impartiality
-
Treat all manuscripts as confidential documents
4. Editor Responsibilities
Editors must avoid handling manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest, including:
-
Submissions from their own institution
-
Manuscripts authored by close collaborators, colleagues, or personal contacts
In such cases, editorial responsibility will be reassigned to another qualified editor.
5. Management of Conflicts
Disclosed conflicts of interest do not automatically preclude publication. However, failure to disclose relevant conflicts may result in editorial action, including rejection, correction, or retraction, in accordance with the journal’s policies and COPE guidelines.
JISAS is committed to managing conflicts of interest transparently and fairly to maintain trust in the scholarly record.
